Here's my reaction to my crew's razing of me for "over pinching" and "going into irons". Which means that I steered the boat too much up wind and not enough at a angle. As soon as the boat's bow (tip) goes directly upwind, it will stop being pulled up the water and will stop. The bow always needs to be at least 40 degrees and more appropriately 45 degrees when sailing upwind. When you are 40 degrees you are pinching. When you are 39 degrees you are in irons (the boat just got a lot heavier since it slowed to a stop) or are in the "no go zone" (don't go there if you want to go anywhere)

To my defense, I am still standing by "the wind just changed direction" theory as justification for this miscalculation.

One important note is to notice the solar panel underneath my left arm which is on the tiller (wooden handle attached to the rudder of the boat). The solar panel is the only techie thing on this boat for charging the night time running lights.
