From this picture you can see that I am on a starboard tack.

Huh ?!?!?

Ok, here's the  translation; the port (left) jib (front sail) sheet (rope) is active and my starboard (right) jib sheet is not. Therefore the boat is being pulled up wind as it flows through the jib sail and around the main sail (rear sail).  The boat is actually being pulled upwind on a 45 degree angle. If the boat were being pushed by the wind, (I would be going in the opposite direction) and the boom of main sail wouldn't be dead middle which you can see is between me and the other passengers. The other passengers are Michael and Karen Kuhn which are taking the lessons before they buy their first boat.
