Entry for March 25, 2007 - Greek Independance Day

Well today was a very eventful day. It started out at our Church, Annunciation Cathedral of Chicago, to observe the Annunciation of the Theotokos. We then went to Chicago's famed Greek Town, located on Halsted Street between Randolph Street and the Eisenhower Expressway to celebrate Greek Independence Day and march in the Parade. After that, we went to visit YiaYia and report to her all of the festivities.

It was a great day especially since the weather surprised everyone and set a new record for reaching 79 degrees Fahrenheit which made it the warmest day in 2007 to date. This is also the day that Baby George's namesake passed away which was two years ago. This will definitely be a nice tradition for our family to follow in the future and for Baby George to come to appreciate how this day honors our beloved Papou Dravillas, the Independence of Greece and one of the holy days within our religion all on the same day.
